For Higher Education: Competence Center for Educational Development And Research in Higher Education (CEDAR) CEDAR strives to improve education in higher education contexts by means of research and development. Our research is fundamentally intertwined with developing and implementing practice-oriented solutions, both for your hosting institution, the University of St.Gallen (HSG), as well as for other tertiary institutions in Switzerland and other national contexts. We work in three broad areas, following the general model of Pedagogical Higher Education Development developed by former CEDAR head and colleagues (Brahm, Jenert & Euler, 2016). All these activities are based on the CEDAR vision. For Instructors: Educational Faculty Development CEDAR provides comprehensive activities for the individual instructor level. With the strong focus on the improvement of faculty’s higher-education teaching skills, CEDAR offers a certificate program in (Certificate of Advanced Studies), various face-to-face and online seminars, as well as individual coaching and consulting for instructors, both individual and in groups (e.g., departments or institutes). For Programm Managers: Curricular Programme Development CEDAR facilitates programme development by scaffolding reform processes with a focus on curricular and procedural aspects. We support individual programme managers with their development processes by means of consulting meetings, facilitating participatory workshops and other events and gathering and using data for improving curricular structures and processes. For Institution Representatives: Institutional Development and Research CEDAR consults higher-education institutions in their aims to develop their teaching and learning on an institutional level. This work includes the strategic use of institutional research for developing aims as well as facilitating consulting processes within and outside of the institution. Follow CEDAR on Facebook!
